Lt. Chang, Reporting

Posted on Fri Dec 6th, 2019 @ 8:30pm by Captain Anjad Terax & Lieutenant Minna Chang

Mission: E1 Only The Beginning
Location: Bridge, USS Magellan
Timeline: MD01 || 0845

The shuttle door opened and the twelve 20-something-year-old ensigns and the lone 266-year-old lieutenant disembarked, each wearing their dress uniforms and carrying their orders. At the base of the ramp a crewman from security checked each of them in and told them where to report. Minna was last.

“Lieutenant, the captain is expecting you on the bridge,” the young woman said.

“Thank you” Minna replied and then followed the other new arrivals to the turbo lift, only adding “Bridge” to the many other locations already given. A few seconds later and the lift doors opened at various decks and one by one the young ensigns started to get out. As the last to arrive, Minna was the last to leave, finally stepping out onto the bridge and walking smartly to stand in front of the center seat, her limp completely concealed and the fact that the last ship she served on was the NX-class USS Columbia, lost at the battle of Cheron over 227 years before, was likely buried in the depths of her personnel file.

“Captain, Lieutenant Minna Chang, reporting.”

"Welcome on board Lieutenant," Captain Terax replied, reaching forward with his right hand to take the padd from the new officer. "Are you straight off the transporter pad?" He asked. The latest crew had only been on board for a few minutes. That looks like a nasty scar he thought to himself. Wonder why she didn't opt to have it repaired.

The ships resident Vulcan remained as stoically silent as usual and observed the exchange between the commanding officer and the newcomer with curiosity. These early days of forming relationships between certain humanoid species was always... fascinating.

She slowly extended her left hand and the padd that it held. The large scar running up the back of her hand then up and under her sleeve was as obvious as the slightly slow and fairly shaky movement, but it wasn’t the ever-present pain that was affecting her, rather that her mind was simply in another place and time, when a badly wounded officer on a shattered bridge had called her captain.

"Yes Sir, I just arrived" she replied.

"You find yourself in a somewhat unique position Lieutenant," the Commander finally spoke as she looked directly at the Terran. "Having surveyed your profile several times, I trust you understand that a great deal has changed in the time since Charon and your time as a MACO," the Commander queried of the newcomer.

“I did complete the modern academy curriculum, and while there are certainly gaps in my knowledge, I can assure you that when it comes to security and tactics I am for the most part up to date.”

"As with all members of this crew, I will expect the highest of standards from you and your department Lieutenant. That being said," the Vulcan paused briefly, "should you require any assistance, do not hesitate to ask."

“Thank you ma’am” Minna replied.

The Captain spoke next. "Well, it's going to make for an interesting journey, for us both then, Lieutenant."
