Mission: E1 Only The Beginning
Location: Quarters
Timeline: MD10 || 1150 hours

Tim never skimped on his mattresses.

Starfleet required a lot of its officers, and those requirements only grew the higher one climbed the flagpole. Tim had learned there were no exceptions to this rule, especially in the last twenty-four hours, most of which he was awake for. Years ago, when the writing on the wall became clear, he invested in a comfortable mattress which enabled him to fall asleep quickly and remain asleep for as long as he needed.

This mattress was so good, in fact, that it absorbed some of the Magellan's initial shaking. When the rough turbulence started, however, Tim found his position reversed with him on the floor and the mattress on top of him. Whatever comfort the mattress had provided had now been replaced with a splitting headache.

In the darkness, illuminated only by whatever light the Inconnu Expanse provided, Tim shoved the mattress off of him and began to fumble around for his communicator. It took him several seconds of carefully avoiding a broken glass to find the familiar object.

"Tim to bridge," he called out, giving it a tap.

There was no response.

Tim tapped the badge again, this time hearing a buzz informing him that the badge was disconnected from the ship's communication network, something only a ship-wide outage could create. He cursed and rose to his feet before rushing to the closet to find a uniform. Pants. Boots. Yellow shirt. The ship shuddered again. It wasn't as violently as before, but it was enough to tell Tim he didn't have enough time to get fully dressed.

The Lieutenant Commander slapped the badge onto his chest and darted out of his room. Engineering would be taking care of the power and engines. It'd be up to him to get to the computer core in order to restore the basic functions, such as communications, so that the entire crew could work together to get out of this mess.
