We Can't Avoid It

Another five and a half days. That's how long it would take for them to get out of the gravimetric anomalies, and leave the Expanse. Then back to the Starbase, and hopefully a debrief. Terax wasn't one for wanting a mission to be over, but something about being stuck in the Expanse with no communication back to Starfleet Command.
The ship shuddered, not a huge amount, but enough to attract the Captain's attention. "Report Ensign."
The Bolian conn officer half glanced to the Captain, before turning back. "This area of space has a higher than normal concentration of anomalies. We didn't enter the Expanse along this course, so the computer is working overtime trying to chart a safe course. Some of the smaller anomalies are unavoidable."
"How much higher are the concentrations?" He requested.
"Around 30 times. They all seem to be larger too. There is... one moment Sir." He was rapidly tapping his console. "Lieutenant Patton, can you boost the sensors and take a look at the anomaly bearing zero-one-four, mark two-five?"
"Aye, scanning now," Patton responded.
Captain Terax looked to Ensign Kita, then to Lieutenant Patton. "Does someone want to tell me what is going on?" He asked, perhaps slightly more acerbically than he had intended. He stood up and walked towards the ops panel.
Patton responded first. "There appears to be an anomaly that is generating anomalies. But this one is huge, the size of a small moon. And anomalies seem to be moving around it."
"What the hell does that even mean? I thought the anomalies were more or less stationary?" The Captain asked.
"Sir," Ensign Kita interrupted. "There's a large anomaly forming right in front of us, we can't avoid it!" A sense of panic in his voice.
"All hands, brace for impact!" He spoke loudly.
The ship shuddered, much more severely than it had before. Before Captain Terax knew what was happening, he was flung forward, head first onto the ops console. He felt slightly off. The lights had dimmed, and the ship had gone to red alert. He half stood, leaning on the ops console. He looked to Ensign Kita. "Medical team to the bri... his eyes looked shocked, then he slipped into unconsciousness.
